The term contemporary art generally refers to art created in the present.
The use of the generic "contemporary" to define the art of our time is also due in part to the lack of a dominant art school recognized by distinguished artists, art historians and critics.
The definition tends to include all art created since the end of the sixties and the twentieth century or, alternatively, by the alleged purpose of modern art or modernist period to the present day.

Contemporary Art is different from Modern art : many of the directions of modern art are involved in exploration of base paint, such as color, stroke of the brush and canvas. Many scholars and art experts say that modernism has come to its end with the completion of Brillo boxes by Andy Warhol, which worked as art itself despite being highly distinguishable from their counterparts of reality. These sculptures and the study of art means have thus marked the end of the difference between objects of art and not art objects.
